Discussion and workshop with University of Huddersfield Year 3 photography students

"Dream to do what you want to do all the time. The reality is you need to do a bit of everything even if you don't particularly enjoy certain areas"

Product and Portraiture Photography

Traynor states that 'Product and portraiture combined training has come in handy for campaign work. The work she talked about when evidencing this point was the face products and portraiture images focusing on the category of beauty and again with foundation and portraiture shoots. Traynor encourages the experience of both genres of photography as it may be needed in the brief set by the clientele.

Due to the new era of social media platforms individuals often devalue the work of photographers. A selection of images that would have been consumed in 6 months is now consumed in 1 month.

The Workshop Tutorial- Coco Channel Perfume

Starting point 1/125 ISO 125 F/11 lens 24-105, 100ml macro

Traynor states it's always better for a camera to be on a tripod and product shots to be taken from a high angle especially flat angle shots. Tripod enables photographers to analyze and change improvements without the camera physically moving. To start, test for ambient lighting then remove from F/11 to F/14. This process increases the sharpness. Problems noticed were a huge highlight on the bottle and dirty smudge on the lower corner. Moving the studio lighting angle works to eliminate light this can however make the product look dull. Fix this by increasing the power to 1/60 instead of opening up the aperture. Extending light further and working on capturing one brings highlights down fixing brightness issues.
